Wow what a great post that Erin wrote to Roxy! I am so happy that all of these women stay behind each other no matter what the situation is! Women MMA fighters are the best and cannot wait for the next fight….Roxy your the best!
Congrats Roxy! ur a true warrior
Roxy,
This is long, so hold on lol Although you didn’t win, you showed what the sport of MMA needs more of: Gutsy, Tough, Tenacious Warrior female athletes who will fight anytime, anywhere and anyone. We have talked a few times over the years & iv always felt for you bc you have wanted nothing more than to compete in the sport you love.
You did the best you could with what you were given and you went out on a limb and took a big chance. Anything can happen in MMA and there is always the possibility of either side winning. You stepped up to the plate, and even though you didn’t win, you have nothing to be ashamed of.
IMO I don’t like seeing true 135ers having to come up in weight because they have NO other options. Its not right & its not always fair, but I commend you on being one of the few, true, competitive real athletes in womens MMA who always takes on any challenge or challenger.
I hope that SF sees the sacrifice that you and a few others have made for them, and that this shows your dedication to MMA. The 145 is such a tricky division bc bigger girls have to cut & smaller girls have to bulk up. There aren’t too many true 145ers, even lol
I wanna see more of the women who deserve to be signed to a big promotion like Roxy, Meisha, Tanya, Lana & other great Japanese MMAers. Its hard to know there are so many women who deserve to fight that are sitting on the sidelines waiting and waiting and waiting.

update: Carano vs cyborg 8/15/2009
I saw both fighter interviews on Showtime between Carano and Cyborg and they both looked great, they are ready to fight tonight, you can tell with the look in their eyes wow!
Watching all the matches tonight they were all good we are not just waiting for the big main event to come up.
Oh BTW Big John McCarthy is referring tonight; I wonder who is going to do the big main event?
Wow watching an interview with Jake Shields cool….
Now interview with Andre Ward cool
While waiting for the fight between Gina and Cris, heck I am even nervous and I am wondering if they are even more nervous. What do you think is going through their minds right now.
OMG just saw a Fedor commercial done by Showtime, OMG that was cool….
Hey UFC missing out eh! yeah you know you don’t have the number 1 fighter in the world anymore….I wonder what Dana White is saying hell I bet he is watching this fight right now, who wouldn’t be watching it….

Well the fight is fixing to start and as I get ready to watch I am going nuts right now, I hope Gina Carano does win, even though she is now the underdog….GO GINA!!!!!
I do have to say that this is the biggest fight in the world and finally Cris Cyborg has someone that matches her…
Cyborg comes out and is looking great…..a lot of people are cheering cyborg, that’s good….
Gina looks good! and ready to go!!! you can tell she is concentrating and that’s all she needs to do…
Here she comes, Carano with a thunderous ovation!! Randy Couture is right by her side….
Gina getting her last minute Vaseline on her face and now she enters the ring….
Jimmy Lennon Jr…introducing the fighters…..here we go….I cannot wait for this!! wooohooo…
This is being shown all over the world and its the best thing I have ever seen in the world!!!
I am so nervous right now……
Remember Cyborg is representing the south of the equator…..
Remember Carano is representing the north of the equator…
Josh Rosenthal referring
OMG OMG this first round is rocking
Gina is having hard time with Cyborg
omg omg omg
Gina is getting out of every hold
but Gina looses…..
Cyborg has the power and it was way to much for Gina…she was just to small for Cyborg….
Gina says she respects Cyborg and that Randy Couture has been a mentor and helped with her game plan
Cyborg says the women who makes the least mistakes will win – she will be
more aggressive

(AP) — NEW YORK – The steel cage set up outside Madison Square Garden attracts hundreds of curious commuters hustling into Penn Station. Standing in the middle, bringing rush-hour traffic to a standstill, Gina Carano forces an uncomfortable smile.
She’s graced dozens of magazine covers, her raven hair and piercing eyes making her a reluctant sex symbol. She was a star on the remake of American Gladiators, and has a role in the recent "Command and Conquer" video game. She’s a rising star in sports, the new face of mixed martial arts, yet she still can’t reconcile being the center of attention.

LAS VEGAS — Gina Carano lives on a cul-de-sac where all the houses look the same. For companionship, she puts up two pit bulls and a convicted felon. She stays out of nightclubs, maintains few friendships and drives a foul-smelling Impala. She never finished college. She has never heard of Chuck Berry. In conversation, she assumes you have never heard of her.

STRIKEFORCE ESTABLISHES ITSELF AS MAJOR PLAYER WITH FEDOR SIGNING
Josh Gross, SI.com
August 3, 2009
Having turned down a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship last Wednesday, Fedor Emelianenko didn’t wait long to find a new promotional partner in America. And this one comes with a significant television deal.
Joining forces with Strikeforce, which announced a three-fight deal with the 32-year-old Emelianenko and his promotional group M-1 Global on Monday, the Russian heavyweight champion may finally benefit from the kind of visibility in America that’s been absent during a distinguished nine-year career fought primarily on non-UFC pay-per-views.

FEDOR EMELIANENKO SIGNS TO FIGHT IN STRIKEFORCE / M-1 GLOBAL CO-PROMOTED EVENTS!

NEW YORK (August 3, 2009) – After a week of intense negotiations and speculation, the hottest topic of discussion in the professional fight world has come to a head as the world’s number one heavyweight and most sought after mixed martial arts (MMA) champion Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko has signed a historic, multi-fight agreement that will see him headline mega-events co-promoted by world championship promotions STRIKEFORCE and M-1 Global.
Emelianenko, known globally as Fedor, will make his premium television debut this Fall when his first fight under the new agreement airs live on SHOWTIME®. Up until now, Emelianenko’s live fights have aired exclusively on pay-per-view in the United States.
"I am looking forward to going back to work and fighting at the highest level," said the 33-year-old Emelianenko. During his nine year professional fight career, which included a four and a half year stay with the world’s former top MMA promotion, the now defunct PRIDE Fighting Championship, the Russian native has faced and defeated all comers.

Ishida and Melendez will battle for Melendez’ interim lightweight title on the Saturday, Aug. 15, "Carano vs. Cyborg" show at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
San Francisco’s Melendez (15-2) lost a unanimous decision to Ishida (18-5-1) in Saitama, Japan, on Dec. 31, 2007, for the first loss of his career.
